The Alpine Lady Bucks varsity softball team came out swinging and never let up, taking down Lamesa in two straight games, 11-1 and 5-1, to claim the Bi-District Championship and punch their ticket to the Area round of the playoff s. For Alpine, the series win carried a little extra meaning.

The Alpine Lady Bucks varsity softball squad wrapped up the regular season with a pair of tough tests over the last week, using both games as a springboard into the postseason despite falling to Big Spring and Monahans in their final outings.

The Alpine Fightin’ Bucks golf team hit the links in Abilene on Monday and Tuesday of last week for the Regional tournament, where they finished with a combined two-day total of 709, placing 14th. Day one had the team in 10th place overall, but our golfers put up impressive numbers despite the team ranking.

The Alpine Lady Bucks competed last week in Baird in the Regional golf tournament. The girls finished the two-day event with a 12th-place overall finish and a combined score of 815.

The Alpine Fightin’ Bucks are district champions once again! Alpine clinched the title Tuesday night, April 21, with an 8-3 win over Kermit at Kokernot Field, securing the program’s first district championship since the 2019 season and extending their winning streak to seven games. Unlike their offensive explosion just days earlier against Tornillo, the Bucks had to grind through the early innings before taking control.

The Alpine Fightin’ Buck and Lady Buck track and field teams competed in Kermit last weekend at the Area competition, where six Lady Bucks and one Fightin’ Buck were able to advance to the Regional competition in Abilene next weekend.

It was a successful outing for Fort Davis track athletes at the district meet, with multiple top finishes and several competitors advancing to the area round this week. The junior high girls delivered an impressive performance, highlighted by Maggie Egg’s standout day.
