Marfa High School junior Ayden Alvarez competed at the UIL State Track and Field Meet on Saturday, May 16, finishing fourth in the shot put with a throw of 49 feet, 3.25 inches. It was a major accomplishment for Alvarez, who entered the competition projected to finish ninth, but instead pushed his way into the top four on the biggest stage of his high school career.

Kaden Lees-Whetten went to Austin chasing the podium in two of the toughest races on the track. He came home with two fourth-place finishes, two hard-earned State performances, and one more high school season to chase what is still out there.

The Alpine Middle School golf team traveled to Wink on Thursday, May 7, to compete in the junior high Wink Invitational golf tournament. These kids hit the links and came back with some hardware to w for their efforts. Lady Buck Henleigh Anderson took the championship spot, as she brought back a first-place win for Alpine.
