Alpine golf travels West Texas

Body
The Alpine Fightin’ Buck golf teams were spread out across West Texas last week, with the boys’ JV team competing in Pecos, the boys’ varsity competing in Iraan, David Baca and Ace Granado competing in Andrews, and the girls’ team also played in Iraan for the first time as a complete team. “Overall, we had a good week as we passed the midpoint of the season,” said Coach Marco Gomez. “I have seen improvement every week in our players, and that is one of our goals.”

Lady Bucks go toe-to-toe with state champs in one-run battle

Body
If anyone in Kermit on Saturday thought the Alpine Varsity Fightin’ Lady Bucks were intimidated by the defending Class 3A state champions, they didn’t stay confused for long. Alpine marched into Coahoma’s backyard on February 28 and went pitch-for-pitch, swingfor- swing with the number four-ranked team in the state, falling just short in an 8-9 heart-stopper that felt more like a playoff game than a February matchup.
