Body When Kaden Lees-Whetten lines up at the UIL State Track Meet this year, he will not be chasing a comeback. He will be chasing something faster.

Body Marfa High School junior Ayden Alvarez had a goal. He and his coaches set it last year when making it to the UIL State Track and Field Meet was still something to chase, something to work toward, something to build a season around.

Body The Alpine Fightin’ Bucks varsity baseball team’s postseason run came to a close this weekend in Kermit after just one round, but not before a season that saw the team transform from early struggles into District Champions.

Body The newly crowned 2026 District Champion Alpine Fightin’ Bucks varsity baseball team is on a tear. Riding a seven-game win streak, the Bucks will travel to Kermit for a neutral-site matchup against the Coahoma Bulldogs (10-12-1) in the first round of the playoffs this weekend.

Body Multiple Marathon Mustangs earned hardware at the Area track meet recently, allowing them to advance to the Regional competition. Kaden Lees earned two first-place finishes in both the 1600-meters and the 800-meter races. He was also a part of the 4x400 relay that placed fourth.
