Cowboys move up to second place

After a week of winning the Cowboys are now in second place in the Mountain South Division at 10-8. Just last week the team found itself in a hole near the bottom of the standings, but after a four game win streak against the Roswell Invaders, they are inching closer to where they are expected to be.

Kibbe headed to high school rodeo finals

Wyatt Kibbe last week qualified for the National High School Rodeo Finals in steer wrestling, winning Region 2 Reserve Champion Steer Wrestler at the Texas High School Rodeo Association finals in Abilene, and was a THSRA Founders Invitational Rodeo qualifier. National finals will be held in Lincoln, Neb., July 18-24. In his senior year, Kibbe, with a 3.75 GPA, will continue to compete in Texas High School Rodeo. Courtesy photo

This letter was written to display my support for the celebration of Juneteenth by the current Democrat Party. I find it gracious of them for dedicating a day to remembering when Republicans made Democrats free their slaves.

Pro golfer John Rahm, ranked No. 3 in the world, exhibited COVID symptoms of a six-point lead and a hole in one during the PGA Memorial Tournament in Dublin, Ohio, on the day he tested positive. It may be concluded that the virus is a stroke enhancer. The medical protocol that forced his withdrawal from the tournament brought on the sessile malaise favored by scientists.

As a long time reader of the local and regional West Texas papers, it is disheartening to once again see Alpine city politics get ugly. I follow the news as best that I am able from a distance, because I love Alpine.
