The Lobo men recently got back in the groove on the pitch, winning against West Texas A&M and Lubbock Christian, which improved their standings on the season and in conference play. Before their win against the Buffalos, Sul Ross had not celebrated a single goal in 21 days.

Friday night under the lights at Buck Stadium, the Alpine Fightin’ Bucks extended their winning streak, earning a decisive 47-23 victory over the Odessa Compass Cougars. The week seven matchup was critical for the Bucks, who remained undefeated in District play and further solidified their reputation as one of the top teams in the region.

The varsity Alpine Runnin’ Bucks cross-country teams took the top two spots at the district meet last Wednesday in Presidio. Likewise, the middle school crosscountry runners did well themselves.

The Alpine Lady Bucks volleyball team continued their dominance in district play, adding two more victories to their record with wins over the Anthony Wildcats and the Kermit Yellow Jackets. With these triumphs, the Lady Bucks improved their district record to a perfect 5-0, holding firm to their first-place position in District 4-3A.

Alpine’s JV football team hosted the Crane Golden Cranes on Thursday, October 3, in what proved to be a challenging contest for the Fightin’ Bucks. Despite a strong effort in the second half, the Bucks could not overcome Crane’s early lead, ultimately falling 34-8. Though the game ended in a loss, Alpine showed grit and determination, giving givthe their fans plenty to be proud of as they refused to back down, particularly in the latter stages.
