The Alpine High School girls’ varsity basketball team kicks off the 2024-25 season tonight at home against Balmorhea, with tip-off set for 6:30 p.m. This nonconference match marks the beginning of an exciting new era under the guidance of head coach Taryn Johnson.

The Alpine Lady Bucks are on a thrilling playoff run. They captured the Area Championship title on Saturday, November 9, with a 3-0 sweep over the Childress Lady Bobcats. The hard-fought win at Big Spring High School secured their spot in the regional semifinals. The Lady Bucks continue to chase a state title.

The Alpine Fightin’ Bucks closed out their regular season with a tough 26-37 loss to Odessa Compass Academy on November 8. Still, the defeat didn’t dampen their spirits heading into the playoffs.

Senior members of the Alpine High School crosscountry team recently received academic all-state honors. Hatfield Cason took the top honor by being named to the Academic All-State Elite team.

The Alpine Fightin’ Bucks faced off against the Crane Golden Cranes on Friday night, November 1, in a thrilling district matchup at Jackson Field. Despite a strong start, Alpine fell to Crane with a final score of 29-16.

The Alpine Lady Bucks volleyball team emerged victorious as Bi-District Champions, securing a hard-fought 3-2 win over Coahoma in their playoff match at Wink High School on November 4. With a spirited performance, the Lady Bucks demonstrated resilience and skill, battling through five sets to clinch the Bi-District title.

Alpine High School seniors Hatfield Cason and Hope Dominguez tackled their last crosscountry course this past Saturday in Round Rock — the two qualified for the State Cross-Country Championship after placing well during the regional competition in Lubbock.
