Runners compete in Midland

Body
Strong performances from Alpine Middle School and improved times from Alpine High School were the take-away from the Tall City Invitational cross-country meet held in Midland this past weekend. Both boys and girl’s teams improved on their times, which is a testament to race experience according to head cross country coach Cory Cason.

The deadline to register is Friday, August 30, and registration for both sports is available for kids in grades one through six. Seasons for all sports are expected to start in early October and run to late November. Kids who sign up for cheer this fall are also eligible to sign up for volleyball and flag football as well.

Bucks begin preseason with strong outing against McCamey

Body
The Alpine High School Fightin’ Bucks started the preseason Friday, August 16, against the McCamey Badgers with great performances by both the junior varsity and varsity squads. While there were no winners or losers in the scrimmages, the Bucks’s defense swarmed and their offense hustled, making McCamey look more like prairie dogs than badgers.
