Jean Ann Wagoner Ragland, 87, of Alpine, Texas, passed away on February 6 at Odessa Regional Medical Center. Jean was born on June 25, 1938, in Arlington, to Robert and Emma Wagoner.

Mr. Anastacio S. Milan, a respected educator, beloved family man, and dedicated community member, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2026, at the age of 79 in San Antonio. Born on January 13, 1947, in Alpine, Mr. Milan was a man whose life was characterized by devotion, both to his family and to the countless students he mentored throughout his 36 years of teaching at Crystal City ISD in Crystal City.

Leonor Galindo Valenzuela passed away on January 15, in San José, California. Leonor Galindo Valenzuela, “Nonie” was born on March 14, 1930, in Alpine.

Martin Estrada travelled the world in service to his country, yet he was most content to be quiet at home with his family, his horses, and amongst the beauty of nature. He was a soldier, a teacher, a family man, an artist, and a healer. Martin created beauty out of simplicity; his steel roses forged from metal scraps were gifted as a loving expression, direct from his heart. Martin was a gardener of flowers and trees, wanting most to plant & care for something of natural beauty and longevity. Martin was also a nurturer of students and horses; he often succeeded with the most challenging of personalities. He gave his energy & skills to those who needed time and trust to heal, and many horses walked again with his loving care.

Our beloved aunt Angie Martinez entered into eternal rest on December 31, 2025. She was 92 years old. Angie was born to Patricio Martinez and Esther Sotelo Martinez on June 1, 1933, in Alpine. She attended Centennial School, followed by Alpine High School. Graveside services for Selette Darling Surratt, 95, of Cleburne, will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Elm Grove Cemetery in Alpine.

Curtis Jahnke, beloved husband and father, passed away on December 1, 2025 in Alpine. He was born January 23, 1950 in Fargo, ND to parents Eldon Curtis and Maybelle Anne (McPherson) Jahnke. He worked on the family farm until graduating from Chaffee, ND high school. He attended Wahpeton Technical College and North Dakota State University, graduating in 1972 in Mechanical Engineering and worked as a construction superintendent at Swingen Construction building bridges.

Lincy E. Corp, 91, of San Angelo passed away peacefully on December 25, 2025. Lincy was born in Barksdale on April 21, 1934, to Harry and Hallie Clarke. Along with sisters June and Dixie and brother Richard, she enjoyed the opportunity to live in several places throughout the state including Corpus Christi, Alpine and El Paso. She married James D. Corp in El Paso on December 4, 1954, and together they raised three children, Gene, Justin and Cynthia.

Maria Granado, a beloved wife, daughter, mother, and cherished friend, departed this world on December 16, 2025, in Odessa, Texas, at the age of 94. She was born on November 11, 1931, in Rincon de Romos, Aguas Calientes, Mexico. Maria’s life was a tapestry woven with her love for family, dedication to education, and her diverse interests that brought joy to those around her.

Tita’s smile beamed like the sun and warmed everyone who had the pleasure to meet her. She could see the Christ in every soul, and treated people that way, no matter where they came from. She was an athlete and natural health guru, a student of astrology and higher human consciousness, and an accomplished oil painter.
