Still time for early voting

There is still time to cast your ballots during the early voting period for the City of Alpine’s general and special elections from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. today, tomorrow, as well as Monday, April 29, and Tuesday, April 30. Registered voters have these four days left to vote for candidates running for the two city council positions.

Brewster County welcomes new emergency management coordinator

The Brewster County Commissioners Court held its regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, April 24. The new emergency management coordinator for Brewster County, James Etchison, was welcomed aboard by the court. Etchison is replacing the previous coordinator, Stephanie Elmore, and started the job on Monday.

History Fair teams traveled to Austin this past weekend to compete in the State History Fair competition. Emilie LeBlanc placed third with her junior historical paper, just missing continuing on to the national competition by one place. She is pictured in the front row, far right.

Dear Neil: Two years ago, I bought two very small Vitex plants in small pots. I planted them in our flowerbed, hoping they would cover unsightly electrical equipment. They are no longer small, and I’m concerned the electric company will be coming after me. Should I take them out? (The grass is artificial.)
