On Saturday, July 18, the Big Bend Chapter of the Native Plant Society of Texas will host a program entitled, Photosynthesis: How Cyanobacteria Change Everything. The talk will be given by Warren Shaul in the Alpine Public Library at 1 p.m.

Over the course of the past month, FDISD has become aware of incorrect information being shared through social media platforms. The Board and I, as the new Superintendent, have strived to be open, honest, and transparent about what is happening in the District and why. In this same way, we want to provide some factual information that is not consistent with some of what we have been seeing on social media.

The Alpine ISD Board of Trustees held a special meeting on Monday, June 29, to approve the 2026-2027 budget and compensation plan, as well as to approve the interlocal agreement with the City of Alpine for the upgrades to Manuel Payne Field.

Presidio County Commissioners Court met on Wednesday, June 24, in the Presidio County Annex. Presidio County Judge Jose Portillo, Jr., presided over the meeting.

The Brewster County Commissioners’ Court held a special meeting on Tuesday, June 30, to hold a public hearing relating to the acceptance of the petition to place the proposed Emergency Services District #2 on the November ballot. All commissioners were in attendance. Due to the nature of the meeting being a public hearing, several members of the audience spoke on the subject.
