Native Plant Society to hold cactus program

On Saturday, May 16, at 1 p.m., the Big Bend Chapter of the Native Plant Society of Texas will host a program on cactus and succulent rescue by Steven Lovecky. The event will be held at the Alpine Public Library, and it is open to the public; all are welcome.

Sul Ross Rodeo adds a ton of new talent

Last week, the Avalanche reported that the Sul Ross Rodeo Team added five new team members to its roster. That number became much larger this week when factoring in junior college and other college transfers, as well as new high school signings. Altogether, Sul Ross has added 31 new team members thus far.
Sul Ross is fortunate to have great weather and both a covered and outdoor arena for rodeo athletes to practice their skills and perfect their craft, like this saddle bronc rider. Photo by Kara Gerbert
