The Brewster County commissioners court held its regular meeting June 27 at 9:30 a.m. On the agenda for this week, the court approved adding multiple items to the list of consideration for the American Rescue Plan Act funding tracker.

Alpine ISD in collaboration with the Permian Basin Area Foundation is getting a muchneeded financial assist through a program entitled the Alpine Public Education Fund. This fund allows the district to identify and help fund projects that are needs versus wants.

The “Coolest 4th of July Festival” is set to take place in Fort Davis beginning Friday, June 30. It will continue all weekend, with food, fun, a parade, tunes to dance the night away, and it culminates on Sunday night with the fireworks show.

Ingredients: 1 box of vermicelli pasta 1 green bell pepper or other pepper of choice, finely chopped 1 small can of chopped black olives 1 small jar of chopped pimentos 2 ribs of celery, finely chopped ¼ cup light tasting olive oil 1 to 2 tablespoons of season salt Juice of 1 lemon 1 cup of mayonnaise 1 cup of sour cream 1 teaspoon white pepper ½ teaspoon of cayenne pepper; optional Directions: Prepare vermicelli; 5-6 minutes, stirring occasionally, until just al dente. Drain and let cool at room temperature for about five minutes, then rinse with cold water and drain again.

HEAD OVER MEALS Summer is upon us, and along with it comes the heat. More than likely, the last thing any of us wants to do when those outside temps hit the century mark is fire up the stove.

Popsicles and water sprinklers, clearly means summer is here! Remember back when you were young without a care in the world, and your bicycle wheely felt like jumping the Grand Canyon? Before being spoiled by the world, we know “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me” Philippians 4:13.

In what activities did you participate in high school? During my four years in high school, I played basketball from my freshman through sophomore year. I was a technician for the band during my junior year.
