The Alpine High School varsity Lady Bucks softball team experienced a week of highs and lows, finishing with a 1-3 record over four games. The stretch was highlighted by a dramatic walk-off victory at home before the Lady Bucks faced a trio of tough opponents in the days that followed.

The Marfa Shorthorns were on the road recently in a Bi-District playoff match-up with Buena Vista. At the opening tip, the Horns put forth a strong fight, with senior post player Garry Gopher Webb establishing his physical dominance in the paint and the defensive glass by out-rebounding Buena Vista with 8 early rebounds in the quarter.

The Alpine Fightin’ Buck JV boys took Ward County by storm on Friday, earning a first-place overall finish in their division at the Sandhills Relays. Both the JV and varsity girls’ teams earned third-place finishes, and the boys’ varsity earned a couple of topeight performances.

The Fort Davis Tennis team tied for first in both girls’ and boys’ divisions at the Fort Hancock Tournament. Hokulani Tofiga and Neveah Sanchez won the girls’ doubles bracket, beating a tough Monahans team in the championship.
