The Alpine High School tennis courts may be quiet now, but the team is gearing up for an exciting start in January 2025. Head Coach Lauren Martinez, now entering her second season with the team, is optimistic about what lies ahead. With around 14 returning players and a wave of talented freshmen, the upcoming season promises both intensity and growth.

The Alpine Lady Bucks Volleyball team has been making waves early in the season, demonstrating their growth and determination in a series of recent matches. Their first home game of the season, held on August 27, saw the Lady Bucks face off against Van Horn, with matches played by the freshman, junior varsity, and varsity teams.

The Alpine Lady Bucks Volleyball Team has been busy on the court with a string of competitive matches and tournament appearances. Their recent schedule included an away game against Midland Trinity on Tuesday, August 20, followed by participation in the Nita Vannoy Tournament from August 22 to 24 in San Angelo.

Strong performances from Alpine Middle School and improved times from Alpine High School were the take-away from the Tall City Invitational cross-country meet held in Midland this past weekend. Both boys and girl’s teams improved on their times, which is a testament to race experience according to head cross country coach Cory Cason.

This upcoming season will feature a lot of new faces on the pitch for the Sul Ross State men’s soccer program. Second-year head coach Bailey Guffin and staff bolstered the roster by adding 27 new players.

The Alpine Junior Bucks youth sports organization is once again expanding fall opportunities for area youth by adding a cheer team option, in addition to youth flag football and youth volleyball. The deadline to register is Friday, August 30, and registration for both sports is available for kids in grades one through six. Seasons for all sports are expected to start in early October and run to late November. Kids who sign up for cheer this fall are also eligible to sign up for volleyball and flag football as well.
