The Alpine Fightin’ Bucks faced a fierce fight on Friday the 13th, falling 60-7 to the Wink Wildcats at home. This brings the Bucks to 0-3 for the season. Wink avenged their narrow defeat last year when the Bucks edged them 1918. This time around, the Wildcats were relentless from the start.

The Alpine Fightin’ Bucks 7th-grade football team put on a clinic Thursday night, September 12, dominating the Fort Stockton Panthers in a thrilling 22-0 shutout. From the first whistle, the Bucks controlled the game, showcasing an impressive mix of offensive firepower and defensive tenacity.

The Alpine Runnin’ Bucks Cross Country team hit the beach this past weekend for the annual Port Aransas Cross Country Invitational. Along with their beach training, they took some time to have a little fun in the sun and surf after they completed the event on Saturday.

The Alpine Fightin’ Bucks put up a valiant fight against the Fort Stockton Panthers on Friday, September 6, at Buck Stadium, ultimately falling 44-18 in a game that was closer than the score suggested. The Bucks went toe-to-toe with the powerhouse Panthers in the first half, trading blows like heavyweight fighters in a title bout and showing the kind of defensive grit that keeps fans on the edge of their seats.

The Alpine Bucks middle school football teams continued their strong season performance, securing victories in both games at home on Thursday, September 5. The 7th-grade Bucks dominated the Fort Stockton Panthers with a 14-0 win, while the 8thgrade Bucks showcased their skills against the Van Horn Eagles, cruising to a 12-0 victory. Both teams demonstrated strong defensive play and explosive offense, setting a positive tone for the rest of the season.

The Alpine Fightin’ Bucks kicked off their 2024 football season with a challenging road test against the Wellington Skyrockets on August 30 at Hardin Simmons University. Despite a gritty effort and a game that hung in the balance through three quarters, the Bucks ultimately fell to the Skyrockets, 38-12.

Taryn Johnson is not new to coaching. Before coming to Alpine, she coached at West Mesquite High School outside Dallas, where she taught physical education and was the assistant coach for girls’ varsity basketball.

Hatfield Cason and Molly Garrett had stellar performances in the 5K at the Crane Invitational over Labor Day weekend. Earlier in the season, Cason ran a 16:16 in Pecos, but the Pecos meet was a road race and was slightly under the 5K distance.
