U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins announced Moore Airfield Base in South Texas as a location for a U.S.-based sterile fly dispersal facility to combat the spread of the New World screwworm (NWS). The announcement comes after a resurgence of NWS in southern Mexico that has prompted significant actions from both lawmakers and federal agencies to protect the U.S. agricultural industry.

Last week, the top college rodeo contenders, their coaches, and fans from across the country showed up in Casper, WY, to compete and support the College National Finals Rodeo (CNFR). Membership numbers across the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (NIRA) have grown steadily over the past several years, particularly in the Southwest Region, which covers western Texas and eastern New Mexico.

Marshall Grant Mc-Call, Jr., 84, of Alpine, passed away peacefully on June 10 at Lamun-Lusk Sanchez Texas State Veterans Home in Big Spring. He was born February 1, 1941, at home at Payne’s Point, Dahlgren, Virginia, to Emma Payne McCall and Marshall Grant McCall, Sr.
November 20, 1950 – June 4, 2025 Robert Michael “Mike” Parker, age 74, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 4, surrounded by his loving family in San Angelo. Born on November 20, 1950, in Pecos, Mike was a devoted husband, dedicated father, and proud “Pop Pop” to his grandchildren.
