The Alpine Cowboys continued to strengthen their position atop the Pecos League Mountain South Division during a busy stretch of games that featured dominant pitching performances, explosive offensive outings, and a key series against one of the league’s top teams.

Alpine’s summer 7-on-7 football season came to a close this month after the Bucks were unable to secure a berth in the Texas State 7-on-7 Tournament, falling in both of their state qualifying opportunities.

The Big Bend Amateur Softball Association’s (BBASA) All-Star teams traveled to Midland this past weekend to compete in the Texas Pre-All-Star Tournament. All Big Bend teams placed in the top four.

The Alpine Cowboys continued their strong start to the 2026 Pecos League season with a productive week at Kokernot Field, winning five of six games between June 9 and June 14 while holding onto first place in the Mountain South Division. The stretch included a series victory over the Tucson Saguaros, a win over Roswell, and a two-game sweep of the Pecos Bills.

For Jimmy Armendarez, Jr., known to friends as “Booboo” and to many others as Bo, a microphone has never been just a piece of equipment. It has been a way to celebrate athletes, energize fans, and give the game the voice it deserves.
