Track and Field do well in San Angelo

The Alpine Bucks Track and Field team took to San Angelo this past weekend for a twoday competitive meet, with preliminaries on Friday and Finals on Saturday. This was a big meet with multiple school from around the state competing, and only the top seven from each race advance to the finals.

Alpine High School Tennis team competed in the district meet in Fort Stockton earlier this week. The mixed doubles team of Zane Billings and Adayna Garcia placed third, and Madison Mendoza, center, placed second in girls’ singles and qualified for regionals.

Bucks are 5-5 heading into district play

After a crushing game last Tuesday against Seminole, the Alpine Bucks varsity took on the Monahans Loboes at Kokernot Field the following night. Alpine would open up the scoring in the first inning on an error by Monahans, scoring two runs.

Presidio gives Lady Bucks the cold shoulder in district-opener

After scoring 27 runs against Abernathy in the finale of the Brownfield Tournament March 4, the Alpine Lady Buck bats had gone silent in losses to Pecos of 13-1 on March 7 and Odessa High 8-0 March 11. But last Friday’s District 4-3A opener against Presidio was a chance for a fresh start for the Lady Bucks.

Alpine Powerlifters compete for State honors

The Alpine Lady Buck powerlifting team took to the state competition over the spring break holiday. The team of Madalyn Warren, Kody Hawkins, and Enyssa Fierro represented the Buck Nation well. Warren placed third in the state overall, while Hawkins placed 11th. Fierro was unable to place, but did well by having the placings needed to participate at the competition.

Lady Bucks drop two, open district play, Friday

Odessa High pitcher Jaylyn Calderon wasn’t fazed by the wind and dirt that prevailed Saturday at Sul Ross State University. Calderon threw 100 pitches, scattered four hits while striking out 10 and walking three as the Bronchos traveled to the high country and downed Alpine, 10-0. Alpine pitcher Hannah Juett kept the Lady Bucks, currently 9-6 within striking distance much of the game as Odessa who sit 5-9 on the season only managed single runs in the second, third and fourth innings before a 4-run outburst in the top of the seventh put the game away. Juett threw 116 pitches with seven strikeouts and three walks.

Lady Bucks track and field just shy of top honors

This past Friday, the Alpine Lady Bucks track and field teams took their marks in Monahans, placing in the runner-up position, just two points shy of the winning host team. The girls beat out Midland Greenwood, Seminole, Crane, Fort Stockton, Presidio and Pecos.

The Alpine Fightin’ Bucks baseball team took on the Eunice Cardinals last Friday night, in a close game with a walk-off by Jace Canaba in the bottom of the seventh to claim the victory. Alec Ramos would take the W on the hill for the Bucks, going four innings, allowing four runs on six hits and striking out five.

Lady Buck track and field takes 2nd at Pecos

Body
The Lady Buck track and field team competed last Friday in Pecos and had a good showing despite an abbreviated team. Coach Cory Cason said, “We were missing several of our mulit-sport athletes at this event. We did not have any relay teams or throwers, but we did well overall.”

Bucks struggle against Blanco, El Dorado

The Alpine Bucks baseball team travelled to Sonora last week for tournament play and faced tough competition on Friday and Saturday. Friday saw the Buck varsity face the Blanco Panthers, in what would be a near shut out for the Blanco team who ended the game defeating the Bucks 9-1.
