The bats were flying Saturday, April 22 when the Sul Ross Lobos took on Howard Payne in an offensive slugfest. Both teams began the game with even wins and losses in American Southwest Conference play, with an 11-13 record, but the bats would not reflect those losses in this matchup.

Lady Bucks end season with impressive record

Although the Lady Bucks’ softball team would fall to Littlefield last Friday during their Bi-District bid, they had an impressive season of 18-10. Game one would see Littlefield on the board first, leading by three until a homerun by Kody Hawkins in the bottom of the third would bring in Jacee Portillo and Sierra Ruckman and tie the game.

Alpine’s Runnin’ Lady Bucks show them how it’s done

Both the Alpine Bucks and Lady Bucks showed the 13 other area teams how to get it done, with the Runnin’ Lady Bucks bringing home the Area Championship. This past weekend, the Alpine High School track and field teams travelled to Denver City to take a shot at the area title and to try and advance to the regional competition.

Lady Bucks continue winning streak with extra-inning win

The offensive juggernaut that is the Alpine Lady Bucks hit a brick wall last Friday in Stanton. The host Lady Buffs had an answer to the Lady Buck bats and held a 2-0 lead into the sixth inning before Alpine, 17-7 overall, 8-1 district tied it in the sixth and scored three runs in the 10th inning for a 5-2 victory.

Alpine tennis going strong

Last week was a great week for Alpine tennis. Senior Madison Mendoza represented Alpine High School at district and competed at the Region 1-3A tennis meet in Abilene on Tuesday, April 11.

Runnin’ Bucks continue to excel

On April 6, Alpine competed at the Crane Relays, and just missed dominating the event by one point. Alpine placed second in the meet, just behind Crane and this meet was a preview of what was to come for the district meet set for April 13-15, when they traveled to Crane once again.
Members of the Alpine High School girls’ varsity track and field team took home the district championship this past weekend at the district track meet held in Crane.
