The Alpine Lady Runnin’ Bucks cross-country team along with Hatfield Cason from the boys’ team took to the state cross-country course in Round Rock last Friday and proved that they have been a powerhouse all season long. Supported by their families, the Lady Bucks brought home a 10th-place finish at the state competition. Hatfield, the lone runner who qualified for the state meet from the boys’ cross-country team, placed 30th at this year’s meet, improving from 41st at last year’s competition in the 3A division. “We’ve had a full season of blood, sweat, and tears but we managed to ride it all the way to the top. Becoming a state qualifi er is a massive achievement, but after months of competing with the fastest racers in Texas, we’ve earned it. We’ve managed to bring not only individuals but now an entire team to compete at the state cross-country meet. A rare feat for a high school. Our season may be over, but our accomplishments will certainly leave a feeling of pride for years to come,” said Hatfield.
