Lady Bucks move to 2-0 in District

The Lady Bucks sported a 13-9 record as District play began on Sept. 24 in Alpine against the Tornillo Lady Coyotes. District play is what the girls have been preparing for all year, motivated by last year’s second place finish to the Presidio Lady Blue Devils.

Cross country to host Mountain Ramble

The Alpine cross country team will host the Big Bend Mountain Ramble mile high cross country race on Saturday, Oct. 1, at Kokernot Park. Races begin at 8:30 a.m., with the race order to be JV girls, varsity girls, JV boys, varsity boys, middle school girls, and middle school boys.

Saddle bronc rider looking for successful season

Sul Ross State University Rodeo Team member and graduate student Brandon Lansford of Cotulla has been horseback almost since birth. He sat on his first horse when he was two weeks old, and entered his first playday at age four. Lansford hails from a long-time ranching family, but not necessarily rodeo.
