March 14-16 Overland Trail Museum Spring Break, extended hours for Spring Break are 1-5 p.m. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. We will also have these extended hours the following week, March 21-23. Donations are suggested. Adults $5 and children under 12 $2. For group tours contact the Fort Davis Chamber of Commerce at 432426-3015. March 16 Desert Mindfulness Walks and Talks, 2 p.m. at Davis Mountains State Park. Contact the park for registration.

Feb. 1-3 Voter Registration, Tri-County Voter Promoters will be set up around the area to register voters. Feb. 1 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Morgan University Center at Sul Ross. Feb. 2 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Marfa Post Office. Feb. 3 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. American Legion Hall in Presidio.

Jan. 1 Black-eyed Pea Off, 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Terlingua Ghostown porch. Entry fees are $10 with peas due promptly at 2 p.m. Anyone may partake of a bowl of peas to usher in “good luck” for the new year for $10, and it comes with a bowl and spoon along with cornbread until it is gone. All proceeds benefit the Terlingua school graduation scholarships.

Dec. 19-21 Live Nativity, 7 p.m. each evening at Kokernot Lodge. Refreshments will be served each evening and anyone wishing to participate is welcome to come between 6-6:15 p.m. to get their costume and instructions. Lawn chairs and blankets are recommended.
