It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Peter “Pete” Woodruff on July 1 in Alpine. Pete was born October 4, 1960, in Alpine to Anna Gene and Guy C. “Woody” Woodruff and returned permanently to live in Alpine as an adult around 2015. Pete, known by the family as “sweet Pete”, attended elementary and high school in El Paso and attended the University of Texas at El Paso, where he put his gymnastics skills and enthusiasm to good use, joining the cheerleading squad for UTEP sports. James Dickie Vaughn

James Dickie Vaughn passed on into eternal life on May 8 and is now in the arms of Jesus. He was born to Katherine Valentine and James Raymond Vaughn on September 24, 1935, in Henry County, Tennessee. He grew up in Paris, Tennessee, and graduated from E W Grove High School in 1953. He was drafted into the Army and served from 1953 to 1956. After the service, he attended Memphis State University. He managed several tire dealership stores until starting D&D Tire in Alpine, in 1974. In his heyday, he was an avid golfer and pilot. In April 1983, he accepted Jesus Christ as his savior after crashing his plane into the side of a mountain and has walked with Him ever since.
