The Trans-Pecos Wildlife Conference, hosted by the Borderlands Research Institute (BRI), Texas Parks and Wildlife, and the Texas Wildlife Association, is scheduled for August 5-7 on the Sul Ross State University campus.

In the July 2 edition, the photo of the Marfa City Council was a screenshot from the meeting via Zoom. The photo was so badly out of focus that the Avalanche edited the photo in an attempt to correct the problem. This, unfortunately, resulted in some digital corrections that were not caught before press time. It should also be noted that the contract with MD7 regarding Verizon antennae on top of the purple and white water tower was tabled unanimously, with the word tabled left out of the story. The Avalanche regrets that these mistakes were made, and going forward will not adjust photos or will simply not use a photo in the stories if there is not a suitable one available.

As we celebrate 250 years of America this 4th of July, we should never forget those who have built America through their sacrifice and service. (June 6, 1900July 23, 1987) The famous Kokernot o6 Ranch covers some 500,000 acres in Jeff Davis, Pecos, and Brewster Counties. The o6 brand, the official brand of the Kokernot Ranch, was registered in Calhoun County, Texas, in 1837, and was purchased by John W.

(October 20, 1897-August 18, 1997) Hallie Crawford Stillwell was born just eight years after Murphyville was established. She and her family would settle in Alpine in 1910, where she graduated at 18 and was teaching in Presidio at 19, all this during the time of the Mexican Revolution, when Pancho Villa was conducting raids across the river.
