Alpine Independent School District has received a $1.8 million investment from the Moody Foundation’s Education M-Pact Fund to launch The Alpine Promise initiative, a comprehensive three-year effort designed to strengthen early childhood education, expand the local educator pipeline, and improve long-term outcomes for children throughout Alpine ISD.

Flooding batters Hill Country once again A massive amount of rain once again engulfed the Hill Country, causing widespread flooding in several counties, including Uvalde, Kerr, Kendall and Gillespie. At least two fatalities were reported near Comfort and Uvalde.

The Alpine Emergency Services Board held its regular meeting on Thursday, July 16, via Microsoft Teams due to weather. All board members were present for the online meeting.

The Marfa ISD, much like Alpine, was able to secure a $50,000 CTE grant to fund an internship program for high school students to be able to receive real-world work experience in the community. Before the students started their first day on the job, they were required to complete some professional training in the form of resume writing, interviewing, onboarding paperwork, workplace safety, communication, and employability skills.

The 2026-2027 session of Leadership Big Bend is scheduled to begin in September. Applications are now being accepted, and space is limited.

On Saturday, August 2, at 4 p.m., the Alpine Public Library will be hosting a Chamber Music streaming event in the community room. The library will be showing a delayed live stream of a summer concert given by the Seattle Chamber Music Society that will include music by Haydn, Respighi, and Dvorak. Entrance to the community room is on the north side of the building.

The Alpine City Council held its regular meeting on Tuesday, July 7, at 5:30 p.m. with all council members present.

The Brewster County Commissioners met for their regular meeting on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. All commissioners were present.
