Darge paints the Big Bend and beyond

Join Museum of the Big Bend for a weekend of celebration of the Big Bend ranching community. The exhibit “Fred Darge Paints the Big Bend and Beyond” features 40 works by German-born Dallas artist Fred Darge.

What are you especially looking forward to in your senior year? I especially look forward to playing baseball and graduating this year. What activities are you involved in during your senior year? I was involved in baseball and football, National Honor Society, and I took dual credit courses.

Vaughn named pitcher of week

Jodie Vaughn’s outstanding week on the mound earned her American Southwest Conference Pitcher of the Week. This is the third ASC Pitcher of the Week recognition in her softball career at Sul Ross.

Boys track wins district

Body
The district meet came down to a dual battle between Alpine and Presidio. Alpine came out of the field events with 84 points. Highlights included a first and second place finish by high jumpers Jake Crump and Andrew Rodriguez. The Bucks swept the top three places in the pole vault with Aiden Garcia, Evren Martinez, and Jace Canaba. Tray Ervin and Rudy Cunningham won the shot and discus, respectively.

Making sparkling memories at gem show

It was a fun-filled day of finding sparkly treasures and rock hunting at the Alpine Gem and Mineral Show held on April 15 at the Alpine Civic Center. Alpine Humane Society Pet of the Week is Jolie, a happy-go-lucky puppy who loves to lean on you for pets. She would make a great walking or running companion. Jolie and her sister Zora share their high energy levels and love for physical affection. Jolie is an eightmonth-old pit bull terrier mix. She is athletic, friendly, and is quickly won over with petting. Jolie bursts out of her shell as a playful puppy with a bit of patience and time to build trust.
