Marfa students advance to international science contest

It is nearing the end of the school year, and many students are busy wrapping it up with exams, academic and athletic competitions, and more. But for Marfa High School science students Juan Avila, Alexis Gonzales, and Aubrie Aguilar, advancing to an internationally renowned science competition and joining the elite ranks of top high school students from across the nation and the world is surely something above the ordinary.

Early voting for May 7 elections starts Monday

Early voting for the City of Alpine and Alpine ISD Board of Trustees starts Monday, and voters will also have to make choices on two proposed Texas constitutional amendments. For the city, school teacher Catherine Eaves and Alpine businessman Amit Rangra will face off in the mayoral race to take Andy Ramos’ seat when he terms out in May.

The Alpine Ghost Tours are back

Alpine Historic Association and Sul Ross State University Theatre Program announced the return of Alpine Ghost Tours on Friday and Saturday, April 22-23 at 8:30 p.m. Tours begin at the Reata Restaurant, where guests receive a complimentary “spooky” drink.
