Season ends for Cowboys after first-round playoff exit

Body
The Alpine Cowboys’ 2025 season came to a close last Thursday evening after falling in two straight games to the Pecos Bills in the opening round of the Pecos League playoffs. Purple and Gold Night tomorrow at Bucks Stadium

Body
The Alpine Fightin’ Bucks football program is trading the Midnight Madness tradition for another this year, but the heart of the event remains the same: football, family, and community. Instead of holding Midnight Madness practice to give fans a preseason taste of Fightin’ Bucks football, the varsity and junior varsity squads will take part in a new event dubbed Purple and Gold Night, introduced by new head football coach and Alpine ISD Athletic Director Jerry Dominguez.

Take a hike! (no, really):

Body
If your idea of summer fun includes sweating profusely in nature while being stalked by curious deer and judgmental lizards, you’re in luck. Hiking season in Far West Texas is still going strong.
For the less adventurous (or those with small children), the Panther Path Nature Trail at Panther Junction Visitor Center is a 0.2-mile jaunt that can be done in 15 minutes—longer if you’re born to dilly dally. Photo courtesy of National Park Service
