The Alpine Fightin’ Bucks knew they had their hands full when they traveled up Highway 67 for their annual showdown with the Fort Stockton Panthers on Friday night, September 5. For bigger schools, early-season games against smaller programs can serve as a warmup, an appetizer before the main course of district play. Unfortunately for Alpine, the Bucks were the venison bites on the Panthers’ plate in a lopsided 59-16 loss.

The Alpine Lady Bucks volleyball team faced a challenging slate of road games last week, traveling first to Odessa High on Tuesday, September 2, and later to Fort Stockton to take on Permian High School.

The Lady Bucks kept their momentum rolling last week, turning in a dominant road sweep at Buena Vista on Tuesday, August 26, before testing themselves against tough competition in the Denver City Tournament over the weekend.

The first day of school was scarcely over before the Alpine High School Cross Country team headed to Wink for a crosscountry relay race on Wednesday, August 13. The Runnin’ Bucks participated in a six-mile contest, with two runners tackling three miles apiece.
