The Alpine Fightin’ Bucks boys varsity basketball team opens the 2025-2026 season Monday night, November 17, at home against Midland Texas Leadership Charter Academy. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m., and the Bucks are ready to hit the hardwood with a renewed sense of focus and unfinished business on their minds.

The Alpine Lady Bucks tipped off their 2025-2026 basketball season Monday night against Sands High School, falling 47-22 in their first action since last season’s playoff appearance. The game was played mainly by the junior varsity team with just three varsity players, as the coaching staff was unsure how far the volleyball season would extend.

The Alpine Fightin’ Bucks varsity football team closed out its regular season Friday night, November 7, with a tough home matchup against the undefeated Odessa Compass Cougars. Despite a 41-14 loss, the Bucks’ two district victories over Anthony secured them a thirdplace district finish and a trip to the postseason.

Marathon’s two cross country runners who hit Old Settler’s Park in Round Rock last week for the State Cross Country meet came home with two of the top 20 spots in the State of Texas. Kaden Whetten kept the pace and stayed in the fourth position until the very end, when he dropped two spots to finish the day in 6th-place.

The Lady Bucks varsity volleyball team (22-15, 8-0) solidified its place atop its region with a championship-level performance in the Bi-District round and followed it with a competitive showing in the Area Championship. Under first-year Head Coach Linda Morris, Alpine added a Bi-District title to its resume with a 3-1 victory over the Coahoma Bulldogs on Thursday, October 30 (set scores 25-21, 25-17, 17-25, 25-20), and then moved on to face the Idalou Wildcats in the Area round in Odessa on November 3, where they fell 3-0 (27-25, 25-23, 2519).

The Alpine Fightin’ Bucks varsity football team (2-7, 2-3) came up short in a hard-fought Halloween matchup on the road against the Crane Golden Cranes, losing 42-21 in a game that carried playoff implications and the battle for a top-two district finish.
