Alpine pushed hard but came up just short at home Friday, falling to Sonora 30-27 in a heart-stopping non-district thriller. The Bucks staged a late rally behind big plays, including an 80-yard touchdown with under five minutes left, but a missed conversion and a late interception gave the victory to Sonora.

The Alpine Fightin’ Bucks hit the road Friday for a showdown against stateranked Wink, but the Wildcats proved too much for the visitors to handle. Alpine fell 56-0 in a lopsided bout, marking the second straight season Wink has won by more than 50 points.

The Alpine Lady Bucks varsity cross-country team left it all on the mountain this past Saturday during the annual Big Bend Mountain Ramble, hosted at Kokernot Park, and earned the team division by a margin of almost 70 points.

The Alpine Lady Bucks volleyball team opened their week with two very different matches: a tough home loss against a state-ranked opponent and a thrilling five-set road win that tested their unity and determination.

The Sul Ross State University men’s soccer team (0-1) left it all on the field in a 2-1 loss to #17 UC Colorado Springs (1-0), Thursday night at Mountain Lion Stadium. UC Colorado Springs struck first, scoring at the 5:39 mark.
