Cordova ready for next step

Body
Chloe Cordova is ready for the next step. Both in life and for her actionpacked senior year, basketball is next up. She’s a competitor and a helper. It’s highly unusual and hard for a high school athlete to be a three-sport star - track, volleyball and basketball - and trainer for both the football and baseball teams. Cordova loves what she does so much, she doesn’t even know she is so busy.

Lobos fall at home

Body
Football erased a 21-7 halftime deficit, tying the game midway through the third quarter, but fell 31-28 in a back and forth offensive affair to the visiting East Texas Baptist Tigers. The Lobos’ first drive of the game ended with a lost fumble before the defense stood tall, and forced a Tiger punt to give the offense the ball on the Lobo 44-yard line.

Quail surveys yield modest prospects

Body
Quail season began statewide Oct. 30, but outside of South Texas, bobwhite and scaled quail populations continue their long, slow recovery following several years of drought. As such, hunting opportunities and success will vary across the state.

Alpine kicking on all cylinders

Body
The homecoming night the win for the Fightin’ Buck football team was never in doubt. A better question was who would be Homecoming King, quarterback Jayden Canaba or do-it-all Aiden Morrissey? Canaba was the choice by the way, and Alpine cruised 73-0 over the Odessa Compass Cougars behind four interception returns for touchdowns.
