Boys split games at Caprock

Body
The Alpine boys traveled to the prestigious Lubbock Caprock tournament before the New Year, and split four games, going 2-2. The Bucks had an away game against Crane last Tuesday that was canceled. Their next game will be against the Fort Stockton Panthers on Friday, Jan.. 7, at 8 p.m. in Alpine. The Bucks are now 10-5 on the season with district play just around the corner.

University mourns the loss of Randy Jackson

Sul Ross State University mourns the passing and remembers the life of Randy Jackson, a longtime supporter of the university and of Lobo Athletics. Jackson graduated from Sul Ross with a BA in 1968 and MA in 1970 before becoming one of the university’s first recruiters.

Morrissey’s 34 points spurs Bucks to big win

On Dec. 17 in Pecos, the Alpine boys basketball team ran away from the Pecos Eagles, 63-42, behind super senior Aiden Morrissey’s 34 points. It was the most points scored by the heady senior point guard his whole career as a Buck. Morrissey had five three-pointers to aid his drives for buckets. The win moves the Bucks to 8-3 with district play just around the corner.

Lady Bucks trying to fi nd rhythm

The Alpine Lady Bucks notched a crucial win on Dec. 14 at the Crane Lady Cranes house, 41- 36. They also had a big win this past Saturday in the Andrews Tournament against a tough Wink Lady Wildcat squad who went deep into the playoffs last year. Alpine won 44-37. The Lady Bucks lost to the Denver City Mustangs on Thursday night, 52-33, while suffering their worst loss of the season to the Shallowater Mustangs the next day, last Friday.
