Curtis Jahnke, beloved husband and father, passed away on December 1, 2025 in Alpine. He was born January 23, 1950 in Fargo, ND to parents Eldon Curtis and Maybelle Anne (McPherson) Jahnke. He worked on the family farm until graduating from Chaffee, ND high school. He attended Wahpeton Technical College and North Dakota State University, graduating in 1972 in Mechanical Engineering and worked as a construction superintendent at Swingen Construction building bridges.

In 1976, he married Becky Hoover and adopted her daughter Jessica. The Jahnke family

moved to Tulsa, OK later that year and Curtis earned his Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) license from Spartan School of Aeronautics. He worked with Cal Center Aircraft in Anchorage, AK. After a few months, the family moved near Casselton, ND and Curtis started his own vehicle repair business. He eventually closed his shop and worked for Mike Nelson Farms full time.

In 1986, son Micheal Curtis Jahnke arrived and the family was complete. After retiring in 2018, Curtis and Becky moved to Alpine, where he focused on his passion for building specialty hunting rifles and opened his Gunsmoke Outfitters business at home.

He loved hunting and enjoyed many adventures hunting in North Dakota and Texas.

Curtis was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Becky; daughter Jessica (Jeff) Starkman, Eagan MN; and son Michael, Alpine; and many relatives and friends. A private family remembrance will be held in the near future.
