Ross Burling, a lifelong resident of Alpine, Texas passed away on January 8, 2025. A Memorial Service will be held to celebrate his life on Monday, February 10 at 10 a.m. at the American Legion in Alpine. The service will be conducted by Pastor Martha Bumpas of the Presbyterian Church of Marfa.
Clyde Thad Curry, a former resident of Marathon, left this world on January 4, 2025, at 72 years old. Clyde was born in Fairfax, Virginia, on November 21, 1952. He is survived by his brother, James Curry; three sisters, Nancy King, Bett Biddleman, and Catherine Curry; his son, Luke Warren Curry; and dear friends Ray Santos, Guil Jones, and Clint Roberts.
Joyce Fay Lockhart Wildenthal (1937–2025)
Joyce Fay Lockhart Wildenthal, 87, died peacefully asleep in her rural home near Williamston, Michigan, on January 7. She was in declining health for many years. She had a long career as a biological laboratory technician and manager at Michigan State University (MSU) in East Lansing and a lifelong love for science.
Paul Roger Olsen of Alpine died Wednesday, January 8, in Midland. He was born on January 28, 1933, in Audubon, Iowa, the son of Lois (Mead) and Peter Olsen. Paul grew up in small-town Iowa and, after graduating as a Political Science major from the University of Iowa, served in the U.S. Army. He was stationed in Butzbach, Germany, where he and newlywed Nan (Bray) started a family. In 1959, Paul and Nan returned to her hometown of Austin and would later separate.
Ross David Burling, a lifelong citizen of Alpine, passed away peacefully in Boerne on January 8. Ross was born May 29, 1961, the youngest of six children born to J.B. And Peggy Burling. After graduating from high school, Ross attended Sul Ross State University.
