Bucks begin season with scrimmage, injuries

The Alpine Fightin’ Bucks baseball team kicked off their 2023 season with a scrimmage at Kokernot Field against Fort Stockton this past Monday. Heading into this season, Head Baseball Coach Adam Llanez has a total of five returning seniors, yet two of these are currently out with knee injuries.

Terlingua cemetery research featured at Jeff Davis County Library

After a career spanning 31 years with the National Park Service at Big Bend National Park, archeologist Tom Alex has taken his encyclopedia knowledge of the region to compile important research of the cemetery and ancestors of Terlingua. A free program offered at the Jeff Davis County Library in Fort Davis will highlight his work on Saturday, March 4 at 11 a.m. Tom has recorded 2887 archeological and historic sites, plus has documented 57 sites containing rock art. He will soon conclude a ten-year sampling survey of cultural sites coordinated with Sul Ross State University. His work in Terlingua examines little known history.
