Sul Ross State University, SRSU, home of the Museum of the Big Bend located on the campus in Alpine, is excited to welcome everyone to the Emmett and Miriam McCoy Building, a stunning addition to the museum’s existing facilities, when it opens to the public on Saturday, March 11 at 10 a.m. There will be presentations and a book-signing throughout the day.
The Alpine High School trumpet trio of Ryanna Pineda, Hannah Vidal, and Aileen Adame, will advance to state competition in the UIL Solo and Ensemble contest after competing recently at Odessa College.
Last Thursday night, a fire broke out at the Terlingua CSD band hall and robotics building, completely destroying the structure and all contents within. Students and teachers were notified that classes were canceled for Friday morning.
The Emmett and Miriam McCoy building, the new addition to the Museum of the Big Bend on the Sul Ross campus, will showcase the Texas art collection from John L. Nau III as well as paintings from El Paso native Tom Lea, and his series of paintings entitled “Western Beef Cattle,” at their grand opening to be held on March 10.
WEEK Alpine Humane Society Pet of the Week is Slate. Slate is a sweet, curious, affectionate boy. He is a Husky/Lab mix with all of the playfulness you’d expect from a one-year-old. Slate is a good boy in the house – well-mannered and respectful of quiet time.
