After a career spanning 31 years with the National Park Service at Big Bend National Park, archeologist Tom Alex has taken his encyclopedia knowledge of the region to compile important research of the cemetery and ancestors of Terlingua. A free program offered at the Jeff Davis County Library in Fort Davis will highlight his work on Saturday, March 4 at 11 a.m. Tom has recorded 2887 archeological and historic sites, plus has documented 57 sites containing rock art. He will soon conclude a ten-year sampling survey of cultural sites coordinated with Sul Ross State University. His work in Terlingua examines little known history.

The Borderlands Research Institute, BRI, at Sul Ross State University is expanding its team with the addition of two new hires this January. Bill Adams has come aboard as Associate Director of Operations, a new role designed to provide support to the growing organization.
