The best news for Alpine

Body
The coming of the Chisos Brewery to Murphy Street on the city’s burgeoning south side is about the best news story I have seen since moving here nine years ago. Construction is due soon, with completion a few months after that.

Say no to brewery

Body
The proposed brewery on Alpine’s historic Murphy Street and historic Southside Barrio has created concern for us and our neighbors. The Fielders said they have talked with all the immediate neighbors about the proposed brewery, and to all the businesses on Murphy Street.

A day in the life of a recycling technician

Body
The Hal Flanders Recycling Center is source separated, which means visitors separate their own recycling at home or on-site. The job of a recycling tech is very important. They assist and educate visitors on how and where to place recycling items. Their goal is to keep recycling streams clean with minimal contamination, and to prevent loads from being landfilled.

Murphy Street a large part of history

Body
Lisa and Guy Fielder are owners of property on Murphy Street. They are proposing to build a brewery on their property. New business on Murphy Street is very welcomed. The Fielders have spoken to me about being part of the neighborhood. That also is very welcomed. Their vision, though, I believe, is not what our neighborhood and Historic Murphy Street is.

Brewster County Judge As for the qualifications for the job, my expertise on confronting the issues impacting the health, safety, and welfare of the residents of Brewster County for years is a proven record. The issue and proposal of drone-testing and research by Texas A&M with an indemnification clause the Alpine-Casparis Municipal Airport was facing would impact medical emergency flights, tourism, and Customs and Border Protection flights.

New health clinic opens in Marathon

Body
Accessing high quality health care in a sparsely populated area like the Big Bend has become a focal point for many residents who often have difficulty seeing a doctor in a timely manner. Marathon will now debut a new health clinic to bridge that gap thanks to a partnership between Marathon resident Marci Roberts, the Marathon Foundation Board, and Texas Tech Health Science Center, a leading partner in the field of telemedicine.
