On Tuesday we dedicated the recently completed improvements to the Alpine Visitor Center, followed by a celebration with refreshments and a local music showcase. The goal of the upgrades is to make the Visitor Center more inviting and useful for Alpine’s visitors and residents.

Team Texas takes charge

For the seventh consecutive time, Team Texas took charge in the Reined Cow Horse competition in Gillette, Wyo., last week. Emily Kent was the Reserve Champion, and Marathon senior Emilee Charlesworth (on the right) and Madeline Horton tied for fourth and fifth. Cowboys drop crucial series in Garden City

With first place in the Pecos League Mountain Division hanging in the balance, the Alpine o6 Cowboys traveled to Garden City, Kan., to take on the top-seeded Wind ball club for the second time this summer. Alpine arrived at Clint Lightner Field needing to win all five games of the series to take over the top spot. The Cowboys were also out for revenge, as their previous visit to Garden City for Opening Day resulted in a four-game sweep.
