Thank you The Chihuahuan Desert Gem and Mineral Club would like to thank our local and regional businesses and the City of Alpine for their support that helped us achieve a successful 31st annual rock show in Alpine. There were 784 registered visitors to the show (plus unknown unregistered ones), approximately 15% of them coming from outside the Big Bend area.

Why are there so many animals in Alpine, and what can we do to help as a community to get our pet population under control? Did you know that Animal Services sees hundreds of animals each year? Last year alone we brought in 484 stray animals. That does not include the 96 surrenders and other types of intakes.

Davis Mountain Preserve open June 18

The Nature Conservancy’s Davis Mountains Preserve will be open to the public for hiking, biking, horseback riding, photography, birding, and other outdoor activities on Saturday, June 18, from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Alpine senior headed to Ivy League

While thousands of high school seniors across the country vie for a coveted acceptance letter from a top ranked university, Alpine High School senior Itzel Franco got accepted into seven of the nation’s top schools, including Columbia University, a prestigious Ivy League school in New York City.
