Alpine old-timers play for love of game

Everyone knows that baseball is more than just a sport. It’s America’s national pastime, from little ones learning the basics in Little League, to teens playing for school pride, to adults who just want to celebrate the love of the game.

Freeze took its toll on cypress trees

Body
Dear Neil: Is there anything that can be done to help Italian cypress trees that have gradually been turning brown over the past several weeks? Is this because of the cold? I’ve been seeing this from all over the state. Yes, it’s from freeze injury, and it has taken the plants a while to display it.

Sagebrush Café in Fort Stockton

Body
Not too long ago on a trip through Fort Stockton, we stopped at our favorite place to eat when we’re in that neck of the woods - the Sagebrush Cafe. We’ve eaten there a half dozen times, and it’s always been a pleasant experience. The parking lot was packed since it was lunchtime, but we figured it was worth it to know what we were getting into for lunch. No false rave reviews for this place.
