Homemade Buttermilk Ranch Dressing

Ingredients: 1/2-3/4 cup well-shaken buttermilk 2-3 tablespoons sour cream 1-2 tablespoons mayonnaise 1 teaspoon finely chopped fresh tarragon, dill, parsley, chives or celery leaves (or a combination) 1 clove garlic, finely minced with a microplane grater 1/2 teaspoon Dijon mustard A few dashes Tabasco sauce (or hot sauce of your choice, but a little vinegar twang is what you’re looking for) Directions: Combine all ingredients into a mason jar and shake it. Open it, taste it, and season to taste with salt and fresh black pepper.

New signs provide info for tourists and locals

Alpine visitors and residents may have noticed two new additions to popular spots around town – informational signs about the history of Murphy Street and the trails on Hancock Hill behind Sul Ross State University. The signs are recently completed projects by the City of Alpine in partnership with Brewster County and the university.

Gutierrez announces millions for schools in SD-19

On May 12 Senator Roland Gutierrez (D-Bexar) announced the release of Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief, or ESSER, funds from President Joe Biden’s recently signed American Rescue Plan. Around $887 million will be brought into Senate Dist. 19 counties to help public schools recover from losses in student learning and costs due to the pandemic.
