Clayton prided himself in being a West Texan. He was born a West Texan, grew up a West Texan, and died a West Texan, and he wouldn’t have had it any other way. Clayton Bedell, 66, of Alpine, died suddenly at home of a suspected aortic aneurysm rupture on August 10. We know that he was met at Heaven’s gate by his beloved son, Patrick Bedell.

Joe’s hobby was classic cars and trucks from the 1950s and 1960s. Joe was known for his perseverance and ability to analyze and repair plumbing issues as well as many engine issues on old classic cars and trucks. He was self-taught on solar and battery systems. Born August 31, 1939, right here in Marfa to Dora and Andres Lujan, the youngest of seven children, survived by her sister, Mageli Venegas, Lucy leaves behind a lasting mark on her native town.

It is with heartbreak and sadness that we announce that Monica Lee Pannell Bowden Burkholder died peacefully on August 1 in Cibolo. Monica was born February 12, 1969, at Big Bend Memorial Hospital in Alpine to Dr. Bob Pannell and Dr. Mary Sue Kimmey Pannell. She is preceded in death by her mother, Sue, and is survived by her father, Bob of Boerne; husband Steve Burkholder, sister Angie Pannell Mullins (Jerry); all of San Antonio; daughters Taylor Bowden-Gray (Austin) of Knoxville, TN, Sarah Bowden of Shertz and Shannon Bowden of Seguin; and her niece Katie and nephew Scot of San Antonio. She also leaves behind her best lifelong friends Christine, Denise, Heather, Jamie, and Marcy, all from Alpine.
