Alpine Humane Society Pet of the Week is Bell, a very tiny, superaffectionate three-yearold beauty who simply lights up at the sight of you. No matter where she is sleeping or hiding, this sweet girl will always come over to meet you at the door to receive some loving attention, and give you all her love and devotion. You will never feel lonely with Bell in your life!

Celebrating 50 years of law enforcement

Brewster County Sheriff Ronny Dodson hosted a meeting of the Big Bend Area Law Enforcement Officer’s Association on July 14 at Post Park in Marathon, in conjunction with the Association’s 50th Anniversary. Alpine Ambassadors welcomed the city’s old fashioned ice cream shop Scoops Creamery as it celebrated its first year anniversary with a ribbon cutting on July 24. Scoops owners and staff welcomed the public with plenty of tasty sweets and refreshments and fun giveaways to mark the occasion. Alpine native performs with Opera Maya

Riley Spencer, a junior at Angelo State University and a 2019 graduate of Alpine High School, recently performed with Opera Maya in Cancun, Mexico. This international classical music festival was founded in 2010 by American soprano Mary Grogan.

Alpine presents 2021 photo contest

The City of Alpine will accept entries for the 2021 #AlpineTXPhoto Contest through Sept. 30. This is the 11th year for the annual contest, named for the #AlpineTXPhoto hashtag which can be used to browse hundreds of previous contest photos on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

It was a nice day for sprucing up the Alpine downtown streets and alleys as Zackary Romero, Heather Yadon, Sara Tandy, Susan Rayburn, Liza Rayburn, and Adelina Beall get ready to work at Railroad Park in Alpine on July 24. Keith negatives at Marfa museum

The Marfa and Presidio County Museum houses the James and Nancy Keith negatives. During their time in Marfa, the Keiths photographed a variety of subjects including military personnel stationed in Marfa, residents, weddings, and other events. The collection contains subjects from Marfa, Presidio, Alpine, Fort Davis, Valentine, Van Horn, and more.
