Strong defense sees victory for Lady Bucks varsity

Body
The Varsity Lady Bucks hit the court in Presidio to take on the Lady Blue Devils following the upset of the JV squad. The varsity girls struggled making shots and turning the ball over in the first half of the game. The third quarter saw a huge difference as the Lady Bucks came out with meaningful purpose, locking down on defense and pushing the ball in transition. The girls would hold that lead through the rest of the game and defeat the Lady Blue devils 51-37.

Alpine track team has new experience in Lubbock

Body
A small contingent of the Alpine Track and Field team traveled to Lubbock for the twoday Texas Tech Under Armour Indoor High School Classic this past weekend. The indoor track scene was a new experience for the athletes and coaches. With no divisions and the best track and field clubs from all over the state in attendance, the competition was tough. The athletes competed in running events on the 200m banked track in Texas Tech’s Sports Performance Center with standing room only crowd.

Bucks take sole possession of second with dominating win over Compass

Body
The old saying that defense wins championships is how the Alpine Bucks have approached this season, and came together defensively for the Alpine Bucks, last Friday night. Players who have spent the majority of the season sitting out with injuries, were back on the court and Alpine was nearly full strength for the first time since early December.

Bucks return home Friday

Body
A week off is a good thing for most high school basketball teams, and the Alpine Bucks are no exception. And after suffering a 70-60 loss at Kermit Jan. 10, the Bucks were hoping to be full strength entering Tuesday’s game at Presidio. But illness has struck the Bucks, and Alpine was still missing some players for their trip to the Border – only taking about eight or nine players.
