Alpine runners off to a good start

The Alpine High School’s cross-country team participated in their first meet of the season this past Saturday in Pecos. Despite the unending heat that has plagued the area, and always plagues Pecos in the summer, Alpine showed the district how it’s done.

Lady Bucks named ‘Best of the West’

Alpine Lady Buck pride is alive and well after their first tournament of the season. In the “Best of the West Tournament”, hosted at Wink high school, the Lady Bucks owned the scoreboard at the end of almost every set, ending with a seven-win streak.

Alpine natives named ASC distinguished scholars

Body
Cross-Country runner Kylie Garcia was named an American Southwest Conference Distinguished Scholar Athlete. Garcia exhibited great improvement as a freshman runner and maintained a 3.8 cumulative GPA last spring. She was one of five runners to compete at the ASC Cross-Country Championship and finished with a time of 36:17.3 in the postseason meet. The Lobos finished eighth overall in 2023.

Mountain Division Saguaros get washed away by San Rafael

Body
The pennant fight for the Pecos League title between the Tucson Saguaros of the Mountain Division and the San Rafael Pacifics of the Pacific Division came down to a third and deciding game on Saturday. Although the Saguaros forced a game three after their win on Friday of 4-0 over the Pacifics, they were unable to keep up the momentum, and dropped game three with a 2-0 loss, allowing San Rafael to take the Pecos League Championship for 2023.

In what activities did you participated in high school? In high school I participate in football, basketball, baseball, and UIL. Who was your favorite teacher/coach, and why? My favorite coach was coach Valenzuela because he has always pushed me to do the best I could.
