AMS baseball: The future is bright

The Alpine Middle School baseball season showed some future promise, with the dedication and teamwork, along with marked development in their skills, according to Coach Marco Gomez. “Under the guidance of our experienced coaches, both the 7th and 8th-grade teams showed resilience and commitment to excellence,” said Gomez.

Lady Bucks place 13th in Abilene, boy’s 12th

The Lady Bucks golfers hit the links in Baird last week, completing the 1-3A Regional tournament in 13th place overall. The top competitor for the Alpine girls was Colette Fowlkes, who earned a 17th-place finish out of 96 other golfers. Last year, Evelyn Smith was the only girl to go to Regionals, but this year Alpine qualified an entire team and one medalist. Analia Adame finished in 89th place, with Alice Saunders in 80th, Jenna Vega in 77th, Ashlee Neal in 69th, and Smith in 54th.

Hawkins hurls heat as Lady Bucks finish perfect season

The Alpine Lady Bucks varsity softball team put the finishing touches on a perfect regular season last Thursday night, powering past the visiting Kermit Lady Yellow Jackets in an 11-1 win. The dominant performance at home extended Alpine’s winning streak to nine games and solidifi ed their position as a team to watch heading into the postseason.

Marathon runner headed to state

Marathon Mustang Kaden Whetten is headed to the State Track and Field Championship in Austin for the 1A 800m race. Whetten is scheduled to race on Saturday, May 3, at 5:20 p.m. at the Mike A. Myers Track and Soccer Stadium in Austin.
