Friday night was more of a MASH unit than a football game at Buck Stadium. Both quarterback/safety Jayden Canaba and running back Diego Monclova missed most of the second half of play.
The Alpine Lady Bucks will move into district play on Tuesday, Sept. 21, at the Gallego center on the campus of Sul Ross State University as the Lady Blue Devils from Presidio come to town. Presidio will be a big challenger in district as they have been a formidable opponent for many years.
The Alpine High School cross country runners are halfway through their regular season schedule, with four races left before district. As long as we have enough recovery time, I am a big believer in a lot of racing.

Senior setter/middle hitter Annika Canaba was named American Southwest Conference Offensive Player of the Week after helping volleyball to a 2-1 conference record this past week. “Annika is off to a great start,” said Head Coach Troy Canaba.
The Fighting Alpine Buck faithful turned out in Fort Stockton in carloads last Friday night at a windy Panther Stadium. Too bad for the Buck fans that Alpine had no answer for a strong Fort Stockton run game, and quarterback Dom Aguilar’s five-touchdown night, falling 46-10.
What started out as a train wreck in Wink last week ended on a high note. The Alpine Lady Buck varsity volleyball team traveled last Tuesday to face in a nondistrict dual against the Wink Wildcats and the Klondike Cougars.
