Baseball 2021 All- District selections are in, and congratulations are in order for Offensive Most Valuable Player James Morris. Utility Player of the Year went to Adrian Lujan, and Co-Pitcher of the Year went to Jeremy Domiguez.

Wyatt Kibbe last week qualified for the National High School Rodeo Finals in steer wrestling, winning Region 2 Reserve Champion Steer Wrestler at the Texas High School Rodeo Association finals in Abilene, and was a THSRA Founders Invitational Rodeo qualifier. Continuing coverage of the 2021 o6 Cowboys, Coach Sean Persky sat down with the Avalanche again to answer more questions about this upcoming season. Persky talked about how this team will be running a lot of base path this year, using the speed throughout the lineup.

Coltan Walden, a senior from Big Bend High School, has had a rough go without normal sports in his life. Being in Terlingua his last two school years has already limited his options, but of course the last year and a half has lessened even more what he can usually compete in.

Alpine resident Dan Dunagan was honored with the Huddle Coach of the Year Award for Fellowship of Christian Athletes at the El Paso FCA Victory Sports Banquet on April 29. The award is given to only one coach a year in the greater El Paso area who has exceeded FCA’s mission to engage, equip, and empower every student and coach with whom they have contact.

The Alpine Track and Field Lady Bucks won the Area championship on April 15 at Denver City. Thirty total competitors will travel for the District 3A and 4A Regional championship. Besides Alpine, other teams competing included Friona, Brownfield, Denver City, Muleshoe, Lamesa, Littlefield, Tornillo, Anthony, Kermit, and Presidio.
